Join the queen of portraits, Elizabeth Reid for a fun, laid back portrait painting workshop!
Portraits of family and loved ones make the perfect gift!
This class will focus on how to create a likeness through color in an ala prima (wet) style of painting. We will focus on basic color theory to achieve rich and expressive paintings.
You will leave this class with a finished 12×12” painting on panel from your photo. No prerequisites required, and no experience with oil paints required. This is a GREAT class for anyone that has ever wanted to try painting. Stress-free, laid back, and a lot of fun!
We will be working from a projected tracing, so there is no drawing involved. We will spend the class focusing on painting and creating 3D space with color. Instruction will cover: materials and cleaning, how to use turpentine and mediums, color theory, and painting techniques.
• You MUST email E’reid a hi-resolution photo no later than Wednesday October 13th. I will be emailing reminders when you register for class. You MUST provide this in order for me to prepare your materials before the class. I will be providing prepared canvases and 11×17 prints for us to use as references.
• You do not need to bring anything to class. You are free to take breaks and come and go during the day as you work, including a lunch break. Be sure to check out sandwiches and coffee at the Soundry café.
• You will be taking your painting home with you, so you might want to consider a box or sheet in the car to protect your seats and painting from any accidents or smudges.
