Getting to know Matt Riegner…

Where are you from? Fairfax, Va.

What’s your day job? Art supply store clerk

How long have you been creating art? Since the moment I could hold a pencil or crayon.

What is your favorite thing about being a member of The Soundry?  The atmosphere. It’s filled with creative energy and out-of-the-box thinking from the moment it opens to the moment it closes. Between the members, to the staff, to those just passing through, there’s an amazing environment of interaction and brainstorming and The Soundry as a whole has become like a second home for a lot of us.

What kind of art do you do? I guess I would put myself in a category of low-brow, meets graffiti, meets illustration or graphics. I tend to just create whatever I see in my head and sometimes it doesn’t fit into those categories either. I just like to create.

Who is your favorite artist?  Or, where do you draw your inspiration? I’ve been majorly influenced my many artists. The majority of them are graffiti artists but there are many beyond that genre. PEETA, DAIM, and Ma’Claim Crew would be the biggest ones off the top of my head.
