Membership
The Soundry is a unique concept in independent art space. A former auto body shop, The Soundry is now home to a coffee house, free wi-fi, studio space, a rehearsal room, classroom, gallery and even a stage. Unlike most art spaces, The Soundry is structured as a “For-Profit” venture. This gives us and the artists ultimate freedom of expression and very little bureaucracy and red tape. We strongly believe that the arts bring color and culture to the community and if given the chance, can stand on their own.
Membership at The Soundry gives artists access to a private club of creatives and a unique cluster of benefits that can not be found anywhere else.
Our artist members thrive in a supportive environment and creative culture. Inspiration, collaboration and networking pulsate here daily. The possibilities are endless for artistic breakthroughs, cutting edge projects, amazing events and friendship.
Artist Membership Benefits:
- Shared studio/work space that includes over-sized easel stations, wash sink, work tables, free wi-fi, storage lockers, drying shelf, screen press and sewing machines
- Space to show and sell your work (we have a boutique as well as lots of wall space!)
- Plenty of opportunities to be in group shows and even solo shows when you are ready.
- Invitations to members-only socials and outings.
- Waived submission fees on all art shows
- 25% Discount on all group classes and workshops
- Ability to teach a class or workshop to earn additional income
- Member Newsletter
- Members can run a tab in our coffee bar
- Monthly members get a $3.00 credit when they check in to work, teach, take a class or attend an event.
- Free wi-fi throughout space
- The Soundry is open 7 days a week 10am-1am
- Low commissions on sales–just 30%
- Monthly Memberships are non-juried
- Membership is month-to-month (unless an annual, two-year or Lifetime member)
- Members are part of a unique community of artists, musicians, writers and performers that inspire and support each other.
- Members get profile on website as well as the benefit of promoting outside shows on our website which averages over 500 unique visitors per week.
- One month membership to DC Active Singles (beginning Jan. 1st, 2010)
Artist Membership Rates:
Monthly Artist Membership:
- $99 per month
- Month-to-Month Flexibility
- $1.00 check-in credit gives you more control over your membership
Annual Soundry Membership:
- $500 flat fee
- Annual Membership–save $700!
- That equals just $41 per month!
Lifetime Soundry Membership:
- $1,000 flat fee
- Membership is good forever!
- A three year tenure is just $28 per month!
- This membership level is juried. Potential lifetime members need to submit portfolio and artist bio. to The Soundry.
The Visionary Membership:
- $25 per month
- Benefits include 10% discount on all classes
- Invitations to members-only events and socials
- A monthly newsletter with specials just for Visionary Members
- waived submission fees into shows

Hello, With the Visionary $25 per month membership do you still get access to the studio space and/or the chance to display work in the gallery?

Hi Grace,
Thank you for your message. The Visionary membership does not include studio time or hang-time between shows. However, you do get waived submission fees into all of our shows which will give you the opportunity to be seen in our gallery. You may want to consider the Artist Membership which is $99 per month and includes unlimited use of our studio.
